When sparks fly, who will get burned?

Josh moved to Arizona to help his ailing uncle George run his business during the busy tourist season. Far from the city and the world he knows, he finds himself attracted to Alex but unable to fully commit. What is his true intention?
Cody is young and looking to make something of himself in the world. He may be from a small town, but he knows more about the world than most men his age. What secrets does he carry with him?
Love can start with a spark, but the fire that starts reveals secrets and mysteries that will consume them all.

Attraction is a strange beast, as Alex, from Spark by J. P. Scott, knows all too well. Three men, a tragic past, and the limitations of age weave together creating a mysterious and intriguing tale that will leave you with a profound sense of happiness, along with hints of sadness.
Widely successful writer Alex returns to Lakeside Estates nestled in the Mogollon Rim of Arizona. At his summer get-a-way he can clear his mind and focus on his next best seller. Upon his arrival he expects to see George Dawson but instead encounters George’s nephew, Josh. The instant attraction and desire that flood his system are far from what he expects.
For a good portion of this story, Josh comes across as an arrogant prick who appears to be using Alex. Initially, it seems that Alex is A-Okay with that, so the plot line makes sense and comes across as hot and steamy. Later on, it’s as if Alex’s feelings are torn, and Josh becomes the person you kind of dislike. However, things come full circle, leaving you with a positive impression of the man.
The plot twists in this debut novel from J.P. Scott will have you guessing, and nope, you won’t always be correct in your assumptions – which makes for a great mystery.
When alluring young Cody enters the picture, you get the feeling that a ménage is about to happen. Whether it does or doesn’t is insignificant. Despite their age gap, the connection between Cody and Alex is genuine and mutually beneficial. As they grow, you can’t help but compare Alex with Josh to Alex with Cody.
Breaking from his writing, Alex assists with running Lakeside Estates. Stumbling upon numerous old keepsakes that he gives to George; he receives an odd reaction. This only piques his curiosity, and as he unravels the truth your heart breaks because of the senselessness behind the what and why. The distant past isn’t the only secret revealed, Cody has a more recent one threatening to destroy his budding relationship with Alex.
Whew.… There is a lot going on with Spark and yet it wasn’t until I sat down to write this review that that fact hit me. The plot twists in this debut novel from J.P. Scott will have you guessing, and nope, you won’t always be correct in your assumptions – which makes for a great mystery. Will you be surprised, maybe? But everything fits into place as a rejuvenated life unfolds brightly for Alex, Cody, and Josh.
