“You can never win because you don’t want to win. Just admit it. You want me.”

* * *

Depravity. Corruption. Immorality.

Sinking deeper into captivity, detective Kuon Leiris longs for the simple human contact from his captor – the Black Duke.

Isolation and emotional numbness corrode his moral values, bringing his pride to its knees until he is grateful for any sliver of kindness.

This 15k word novella is an extra story for Love of the Egoist. It takes place at the beginning of chapter 16 in the main book.

Not a standalone.

Excerpt:

Staring into the soul-consuming depth of Kuon’s eyes, where revolt tangled in a web of confusion, Yugo felt darkness splashing in his chest. Kuon’s wish to escape his affection cut through his skin better than any blade. He itched to clasp that white throat and squeeze it so hard, Kuon’s bones would crush and turn into dust under his fingers.

Granting Kuon a sharp smile, he pulled back, freeing the man from the cage of his attention. “Go.”

Relief released the tension from Kuon’s lips when he nodded and got up.

Pure, boiling, agonizing rage exploded in Yugo’s chest, demolishing the remains of his kindness. His chest tightened as his lips stretched into a smile he didn’t feel. Watching Kuon’s back disappear in the bathroom, he got up. One after the other his cufflinks clanged hitting the floor; his belt followed. He grabbed the collar of his shirt with a furious hand and tore down, buttons scattering across the polished wooden floor.
